PLDT Enterprise, the corporate business group of the country’s leading telecommunications and multimedia services provider PLDT, empowers Philippine enterprises with insights on maximized opportunities generated by the digital transformation process in the recently concluded 2016 Philippine ICT Leadership Convention. The company has rebranded for its own digital pivot, and continuous to demonstrate the values of leveraged ICT and an increased focus on customer behavior as tools to succeed amidst shifts in the new digital economy.
Speaking to leaders of local and multinational enterprises at “The Philippine ICT Leadership Convention: Digital Now”, PLDT/Smart Executive Vice President and ePLDT President and CEO Eric R. Alberto stressed the urgency of innovation, competition, and transformation in this rapidly-shifting business landscape.
“It is increasingly apparent that the digital path is the only way by which we could truly cultivate meaningful, sustainable, and lifelong relationships with the new and digitally-adept customer,” he told attendees gathered at the Grand Ballroom of the Marriott Hotel. The use of Social, Mobility, Analytics, Cloud, and Security technologies, or simply SMACS, to generate insights, he added, is part of staying attuned to the needs of what he called the new customer – who is hyper-connected and mobile-first.
He also warned that resistance results in obsolescence, citing the experiences of once-dominant and famous brands that have been replaced by newer technologies. Disruptors such as Uber and Airbnb also play critical roles, in addition to some local and regional eCommerce platforms – all of which harnessed digital business models to successfully deliver the value and overall wellness that today’s customers demand.
“We can get lost in the trees of our own business problems; in the process we may forget the many, many stories of disruption happening in the forest. Things are always changing and rationalizing, especially in online services,” said Mr. Alberto.
